Xiangshan Temple, Luoyang, Henan
(November 2, 2011)

(1) As we worked our way back along the east side of the river, we reached Xiangshan Temple, which Bill Porter says has been moved here from further along the river (presumably to capitalize on the tourist trade). It's so new that some of the figures in the first hall have been primed but not painted.

(2) The Heavenly Kings in that hall, though, look ready to disco. All the main figures in the temple were bronze and modern-looking.

(3) Some of the Eighteen Arhats in the second hall.

(4) The Buddha and his attendants in the third and last hall. I don't know if they'll ever stand on an altar; it was sort of funny to see them on the floor!
