Huiju Temple, Jiuhuashan
(June 21, 2012)

(1) Oddly, the Mountain Gate at Huiju Si (another of my 142) is uphill from the temple, as though they expect visitors to approach from Tiantai Si at the top. In fact the whole layout of the place was kind of a hodgepodge.

(2) The new-looking Mountain Gate has a unique bracket at the top of each column.

(3) Inside the Mountain Gate is this brand-new, unpainted Milefo. I think they should leave him this way; he looks good against the blue background.

(4) Behind the Mountain Gate is this supposedly-old (but clearly very new) Dizang Hall, maybe the best-looking of the four main buildings at Huiju Si.

(5) Looking back from Huiju Si at "Heaven's Bridge Temple," Gu Baijing Tai above it, and a roof of Tiantai Si above that. How far I walked!

(6) In fact, I was worried that I wouldn't get to Huiju Si before they closed, but I was able to sit in the main hall and say my prayers with this view in front of me.

(7) Main hall on the left, a Milefo in the Weituo Hall on the right. The path coming down the mountain runs between them.
